It was an honour for top international Singapore corporate emcee Wayne Chan to host the grand opening ceremony launch of #Dutch high-tech manufacturer VDL Enabling Technologies Group’s (ETG) S$100m state-of-the-art facility, SQ1, on 2 June 2025 this year.
The official launch event was attended by the company’s top leadership from the Netherlands and also high-level VIPs and dignitaries in Singapore including former Singapore President Halimah Yaacob, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Singapore, Anneke Adema, Managing Director of EDB, Jermaine Loy, and CEO of JTC, Jacqueline Poh.
This new investment positions VDL ETG for long-term growth in Singapore by:
- Scaling its advanced manufacturing and production capabilities by 30%
- Advancing innovation in precision engineering, by partnering local suppliers in Singapore
- Enabling technology and product transfers from the VDL facility in The Netherlands
- Creating 400+ new jobs in systems design and development, production, logistics, and administration
Over the past 55 years, VDL ETG has grown its capabilities in product design and high-tech manufacturing here. It’s now one of Singapore’s key contract manufacturers supplying players including Applied Materials, KLA, and ASM. The Singapore facility is its largest in Asia, and third-largest operation globally by revenue, anchored by a highly skilled team of 800 employees and a strong ecosystem of local suppliers. The company works closely with local unions such as UWEEI – United Workers of Electronics & Electrical Industries, to support Singaporean workers.
