It was truly a distinct honour for Emcee Wayne Chan to welcome the Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry, Brunei Darussalam, Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mat Suny Bin Haji Mohd Hussein as well as many other foreign dignitaries as our distinguished guests to the 7th edition of Gas Asia Summit Conference & Exhibition (GAS 2019) in Singapore, as part of the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW).
Firmly positioning Singapore as the leading trade, services and innovation hub, GAS 2019 is a regional collaborative platform to showcase investment opportunities and dynamic developments in Asia’s natural gas and LNG sector
It is also THE premier platform for policy makers, business leaders, academics and solution providers to convene, connect and co-create partnerships for a better energy future – presenting an annual opportunity to connect with the most influential energy leaders, mostly C-level attendees, from around the region shaping the natural gas and LNG industry.
In Asia, great strides have been made in beginning to switch to renewable technologies and natural gas—strides that have enhanced the energy security of the region. But more can and must be done. Environmental concerns persist—and will get worse if we do not act quickly to meet growing demand with cleaner energy sources.
Wayne learnt much over the two-day conference (30-31 oct) about how natural gas, one of the safest and cleanest fuels available, is essential in that effort.
It emits less pollution than other fossil fuel sources. When natural gas is burned, it produces mostly carbon dioxide and water vapor — the same substances emitted when humans exhale.
As the former environment beat journalist at Channel NewsAsia #CNA, hosting this event was a treat – both to catch up with old friends in the energy sector, and to also be apprised of the latest developments.
